About Us

The Jovian Motley Foundation was established by the loving parents of Jovian Motley (Correctional Officer) following the tragic loss of their son on November 13, 2023, in the line of duty. Founded in love, purpose, and remembrance, the Foundation exists to honor Jovian’s life and legacy by serving others and supporting the community he cared so deeply about. Through advocacy, service, and outreach, we are committed to turning our pain into purpose and ensuring that Jovian’s impact continues to make a difference in the lives of others.

Why We Exist

Jovian Motley’s life was cut short while he was serving in the line of duty. In the aftermath of his death, unanswered questions and systemic concerns highlighted the need for stronger advocacy, clearer accountability, and greater attention to safety within correctional environments.

The Jovian Motley Foundation was created to ensure that Jovian’s life would not be reduced to a moment, but honored through purposeful work that protects others and supports families navigating similar circumstances.

Our Mission

Our mission is to advocate for safer working conditions, increased transparency, and meaningful accountability within correctional systems, while supporting families impacted by line-of-duty loss through awareness, community engagement, and action.

Our Approach

The foundation’s work is guided by the belief that service should be met with responsibility and protection. Our efforts focus on:

  • Advocacy & Accountability
Promoting conversations and initiatives that prioritize safety, transparency, and responsible systems.

  • Community Awareness
Educating the public about the realities faced by correctional officers and the importance of reform and oversight.

  • Support & Engagement
Standing alongside families and communities affected by loss and creating spaces for connection, remembrance, and action.

Looking Ahead

As we move forward, the Jovian Motley Foundation is committed to transforming loss into lasting change. Our focus remains on advocacy, education, and accountability aimed at improving safety within correctional environments while supporting the families most affected by line-of-duty tragedies. We will continue to raise awareness, partner with community leaders, and pursue initiatives that honor Jovian’s legacy through action—not words alone. Looking ahead, our mission is rooted in hope, driven by purpose, and guided by the belief that meaningful change is possible when voices are heard and lives are valued.
